Hi all, I have gone through many posts related to this issue,but my issue wasn't resolved hence creating new thread. I am unable to ping localhost. ping localhost tries to ping localhost which is defined in DNS.

Now I am able to ping the vm and ssh to it. Even I am able to ping the gateway from the instance but unable to ping google.com from it. Mar 15, 2011 · Just going off your question topic, I had the same issue. I could not ping W7 machines, but XP machines would reply no problem. The problem was that W7's firewall blocks ping requests by default. There needs to be a firewall allowance for echo requests: Add the following to the Windows firewall Inbound Rules:
